Cremation … An economical choice or not.

By

year 2000 many Filipinos are opting to be cremated. Many believe that cremation is simply economical.

Traditional way of paying our respects to a love one who passes away ahead of us is very costly nowadays. A service with 3 days viewing , an economy type wooden casket, pick up of the body from place of death and delivery to the interment site will cost at least fifty thousand pesos (P50,000.00). A plot will cost about Sixty Five Thousand Pesos (P65,00000) to One Hundred Thousand (P100,000.00), depending of course with the location of the cementary. Then the cost of interment is around Twenty Five Thousand (P25,000.00) to Thirty Five Thousand (P 35,000.00) More or less, to have a decent wake, a family must prepare at least One Hundred Forty Thousand (P 140,0000) to One Hundred Eighty Thousand (P 180,000.00)

Cremation package has three type;

1.  Traditional viewing first and then cremation follows, this package will cost about One Hundred Thousand Pesos (P 100,00000) the least, inclusive of 3 days viewing, pick up of the body, economy class wooden casket, use of crematorium and a marble urn.

2. After a love one passes away, immediately cremate the remains. Viewing follows afterwards,  with a love one already in urn. Using a regular room good for 40 people and a marble urn, this package will cost at about One Hundred Thousand Pesos (P 100,000.00)

3. The Final Choice of cremation package is simply cremating a remain putting it in a marble urn then just bring your love one home. This type of cremation will cost Forty Thousand Pesos (P40,000.00). Among the three, this type of cremation is the most economical, however please be informed that there is quite a bit of technicality issues for this type and the second type.

Before a mortuary can perform a cremation, a permit must first be secured at the municipal hall governing the mortuary, so if death occurs on a weekend, holiday and night time, cremating immediately is not possible.

Summing up, cremation indeed, is an economical choice, however preparing ahead by buying a memorial service is the

most economical. It will save the family around Forty Percent (40%) as compared to at need cost.  Also having a plan will take away the problem on what to do and how to go about when an unevitable things happens.
